We got the Christmas tree up this weekend, and it was a surprisingly drama-free affair. Despite the fact that the Home Depot was pretty picked over, we found the perfect tree within a few minutes and were on our way home with it strapped to the roof.
We are not the type of people that go to Christmas tree farms and stroll romatically through the piney air. We are the type of people that don't want to pay more that twenty bucks for a nice Christmas tree. So Home Depot it is: we save the romantic walk in a wood for another time.
The cats were thrilled to see the return of the seven-foot salad bar and immediately commenced devouring the lowest branches. For the next few weeks, at least, the cats will be binging and purging on pine needles instead of cat food. When they're not doing that, they'll be using the tree as a bunker from which to launch stealth attacks on each other. We'll be spending the next few weeks picking up pine needles, yelling at cats, and enjoying the glow of Christmas lights in the evening. All in all, a pleasant holiday season.
